I prefer petrol for lower noise but I have a diesel as backup as the diesel has so far never let me down but it shakes the ground around it so I stick to just for backup, as for the petrol apart from coil failure once so far every failure has been brushes or mostly AVR giving in, your write up very interesting informative.
